South Dakota Managing Assistance for Victims' Services

Welcome to MAVIS, the Online Grants Management System for the South Dakota Department of Public Safety – Victims’ Services Program. The Victims’ Services Program provides grant funding for agencies that provide services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and other violent crimes. The Victims’ Services Program also administers the Crime Victims’ Compensation Program that provides monetary assistance to victims of violent crimes for expenses incurred as a direct result of personal injury to, or death of a victim of state, tribal or federal crimes.


Are you a crime victim seeking to apply for victim compensation?
  • Click the "Register" button in the top-right of the page, then click the "Claimant" button.
    • Once you complete your registration form, you will be logged into the system and taken directly into a Claim Application.
  • You should then follow the instructions to complete and submit you Claim Application.
  • Once you have submitted your Claim Application, you will be directed to complete and submit your Claim Expenses. 
  • If you are already registered and have started or completed your application on-line, simply login to access the MAVIS system.
  • If you have a current claim and have not registered with the new on-line system – Call the Crime Victims Compensation Office at 605-773-6317 and staff can assist you with registering.
  • Additionally if you have any issues Registering or accessing your Claim, please contact the Crime Victim Compensation office.

Are you an organization seeking to apply for grant funds?
  • Click the "Register" button in the top-right of the page. Once you complete your registration form, a request for approval will be sent to Victims’ Services.
  • Once your account/organization has been approved, you will receive a notice in the e-mail address used during registration.
  • If you are already registered, simply login to access the MAVIS system.
  • Open application solicitations will appear in the “Available Opportunities” section of the site.
